Pianoteq is a very high quality and versatile virtual piano, available for Windows, Mac and Linux. The demo version is free, with a few limitations. There is an excellent user forum if you need help. Find out more here:
MuseScore is free, but very high quality, open-source notation software for Windows, Mac and Linux. I used MuseScore to prepare all of my recent publications on Sheet Music Plus and my editions of easy classics on imslp.org.
Internet Midi is software (Windows or Mac) which can be used in online lessons. It does need a digital piano or keyboard connected to the computer. Free trial version available.
